Dear Sirs,

Subject: Religion Persecution in Orissa

With all respect, and considering that I have some good friends in India, I cannot be silent as that facts always reported from Orissa State that have been occuring since Last Christmas, better: since 1999.

I know very well India has quite 1.000.000.000 inhabitants and all of you in charge of this Country have something more important to do than to take care of religons conflicts between VHP and christians. And maoists...

But one thing you can no more letting to do: put a end on that situation, because now, everyday, milions of people are looking at hundred of photos that are showing that bestiality may hapens within any religion, even in Hinduism.

I know you are tired of seeing, anyway I attached a dozen of pics that shame my indigenous friends - and me.

Please, stop that crimes.

"From December 24, 2007 till January 2, 2008, attacks in Kandhamal district killed at least four Christians and destroyed over 100 churches and 730 Christian homes. Most of the victims were Dalits, formerly known as untouchables.

The latest persecution began when Lakshmanananda Saraswati, a Hindu swami and VHP leader, was killed by unknown assailants on August 23, 2008. Leaders from VPH - "Vishwa Hindu Parishad" a fundamentalist Hindu association, publicly blamed Christians and mobs attacked against them in, at least, 12 of 30 districts in the Eastern state of Orissa. Christian leaders reported, as of Sept. 3, 2008, at least 4,014 Christian homes destroyed in 300 villages, an estimated 50,000 people displaced, two pastors and 24 other Christians killed, one nun gang raped, and over a hundred churches burned.

On Thursday, September 4, 2008, India’s Supreme Court instructed the Orissa government to control the violence, and the Orissa authorities promised to halt a procession by the VHP (Vishwa Hindu Parishad or World Hindu Council) on Sept. 7, 2008. However, VHP leaders told Indian journalist they still planned to hold the “Shraad Yatra” on the 16th day of the swami’s death, a traditional funeral rite performed by Hindu sadhus. Previously, Christian leaders from all major denominations and church networks called for a day of prayer and fasting across India on Sunday, Sept. 7, 2008."

"A man can counterfeit love, he can counterfeit faith, he can counterfeit hope and all the other graces, but it is very difficult to counterfeit humility.

Character is what you are in the dark.

The world does not understand theology or dogma, but it understands love and sympathy.

The tendency of the world is down - God's path is up.

Never think that Jesus commanded a trifle, nor dare to trifle with anything he has commanded.

Obedience means marching right on whether we feel like it or not. Many times we go against our feelings. Faith is one thing, feeling is another.

Some people think God does not like to be troubled with our constant coming and asking. The way to trouble God is not to come at all.

God sends no one away empty except those who are full of themselves.

Small numbers make no difference to God. There is nothing small if God is in it.

I believe Satan to exist for two reasons: first, the Bible says so; and second, I've done business with him.

I have more trouble with D. L. Moody than with any other man I ever met.

God has nothing to say to the self-righteous.

When a man has no strength, if he leans on God, he becomes powerful.

Temptations are like tramps. Treat them kindly, and they will return bringing others with them.

Temptations are never so dangerous as when they come to us in a religious garb.

If I walk with the world, I can't walk with God.

We can stand affliction better than we can prosperity, for in prosperity we forget God.

Those who say they will forgive but can't forget; bury the hatchet, but they leave the handle out for immediate use.

Take courage. We walk in the wilderness today and in the Promised Land tomorrow.

Give me a person who says, "This one thing I do, and not these fifty things I dabble in."

I prayed for faith and thought that some day faith would come down and strike me like lightning. But faith did not seem to come. One day I read in the tenth chapter of Romans, "Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God." I had up to this time closed my Bible and prayed for faith. I now opened my Bible and began to study, and faith has been growing ever since.

Seeking to perpetuate one's name on earth is like writing on the sand by the seashore; to be perpetual it must be written on eternal shores.

I believe the family was established long before the church, and my duty is to my family first. I am not to neglect my family.

You may find hundreds of faultfinders among professed Christians; but all their criticism will not lead one solitary soul to Christ. I never preached a sermon yet that I could not pick to pieces, and find fault with. I feel that Jesus Christ ought to have a far better representative than I am. But I have lived long enough to discover that there is nothing perfect in this world. If you are to wait till you find a perfect preacher, or perfect meetings, I am afraid you will have to wait till the millennium arrives. What we want is to be looking up to Christ. Let us be done with faultfinding.

The law tells me how crooked I am. Grace comes along and straightens me out.

A holy life will produce the deepest impression. Lighthouses blow no horns; they only shine."
